Optional · for those who want the detail

Test. Don't guess.

Coaching works perfectly well without this. But if you are the sort who wants the detail rather than the summary, a finger-prick test at home turns an educated guess into a measurement — what your body is actually short of, not what a magazine thinks you might be.

  • Ten minutes, at your kitchen tableA finger-prick sample, a pre-paid envelope, no clinic and no appointment.
  • A UKAS-accredited UK laboratoryOperating to ISO 15189, with every result reviewed by a clinician.
  • Results read with you, marker by markerForty-five minutes with Emma, in plain English, with what to do next.
  • Entirely optionalPlenty of clients never test, and do very well. This is the deeper end.
  • Re-tested at twelve weeksThe part almost nobody does, and the one that turns a hunch into proof.

Why we test first

Two women, same plan, opposite results.

One is low in iron and running on empty. One has plenty of iron and is short on vitamin D through a British winter. Give them the same advice and you help one and waste the other's year.

Testing takes about ten minutes at your kitchen table. What comes back is a baseline we can actually coach from, and something to measure against when we re-test.

  • No clinic, no appointment

The kit arrives by post. You take the sample at home and send it back in the pre-paid envelope.

  • Accredited UK laboratory

Samples are analysed by a UKAS-accredited lab with clinical oversight, the same standard your GP's bloods go through.

  • Read with you, not sent at you

A results call where we go through every marker together and turn it into a plan you can start that week.

Step 01

Your kit arrives

Order through me and a kit is posted to you, usually within a couple of days. Everything is in the box: lancets, the collection tube, a wipe, a plaster and a pre-paid return envelope.

2–3 days by post
Step 02

Ten minutes at your kitchen table

A finger-prick sample, first thing in the morning, before you eat. No needles in the arm, no clinic, no day off work. Warm hands and a glass of water make it far easier than you'd expect.

~10 minutesFasted, morning
Step 03

The lab does its work

Post it back the same day. Your sample is analysed by a UKAS-accredited UK laboratory, with results checked by a qualified clinician before they're released.

3–5 working daysUKAS accredited
Step 04

We read it together

A 45-minute call where we go through every marker: what's optimal, what's merely "in range", and what's quietly holding your training back. No jargon, no scare tactics, just what your numbers mean for you.

Step 05

Food first, then the gaps

Your protocol starts with what you eat: the meals, timing and portions that move the markers we care about. Where food realistically can't close a gap, vitamin D in a British January, say, we add a targeted supplement, and only then.

Food firstTargeted, not scattergun
Step 06

Re-test, and see it move

Twelve weeks later we test the same markers again. This is the part nobody does, and it's the part that matters: proof that what you changed actually worked, in your blood, not just in how you think you feel.

The panels

Three ways in

Start narrow or start wide. Every panel comes with a results call and a written protocol, the test on its own is only half of it.

Panel 01

Omega Balance

Your omega-6 to omega-3 ratio and the fatty acids behind it, the single clearest read on how inflammatory your diet currently is, and the fastest one to shift.

Omega-6:3 ratioEPADHAArachidonic acidOmega-3 index

Best if you want one clear number to move, and proof it moved.

Panel 02

Female Performance

The markers that decide whether training makes you fitter or just makes you tired. Built around the things that actually go wrong in women who train hard.

FerritinFull iron studiesVitamin DB12 & folateThyroid (TSH, FT4)Full blood count

The one most women should start with.

Panel 03

Full Picture

Everything in the Performance panel plus hormones, metabolic and liver markers, the deep baseline for anyone in a hard training block, perimenopause, or simply wanting the whole map.

Everything in Panel 02OestradiolTestosteroneCortisolHbA1cLipidsLiver & kidney

Best paired with monthly coaching and a re-test at twelve weeks.

Panel pricing is confirmed on your discovery call and depends on the lab partner and panel size. Testing is available to coaching clients and as a standalone service.

The standard we hold

An accredited lab. A qualified clinician. A proper conversation.

Home testing only means something if the analysis behind it is serious. Every sample goes to a UKAS-accredited UK laboratory operating to ISO 15189, and every result is reviewed by a qualified clinician before it reaches you.

Questions, answered

Does a finger-prick test really tell you enough? +
For the markers on these panels, yes. Capillary sampling is well validated against a standard venous draw for things like ferritin, vitamin D, thyroid and the fatty acid markers. If a panel needs a full venous draw, I'll say so and we'll arrange a phlebotomy appointment instead.
Is this a substitute for seeing my GP? +
No, and it isn't meant to be. This is nutritional testing to guide your food and training, not a diagnosis. If anything on your results looks like it needs medical attention, I'll tell you plainly and ask you to take it to your GP, that's part of the service, not a failure of it.
I'm squeamish. Can I still do it? +
Almost everyone manages it, and most are surprised how small a thing it is. The lancet is spring-loaded and you barely feel it. Warm hands, a glass of water beforehand and sitting down are the whole trick, and I'll talk you through it first if you'd like.
Do I have to buy supplements afterwards? +
Not at all. Plenty of results lead to changes on the plate and nothing else, which is exactly how it should be. Where a supplement genuinely earns its place I'll say why, and you're free to buy it anywhere you like, my own range is there for convenience, not obligation.
When in my cycle should I test? +
For iron, vitamin D, B12 and thyroid it makes very little difference. For the sex hormones in the Full Picture panel, timing matters a lot, we'll pick the right day together when you order, so the numbers are worth reading.
Who sees my results? +
You do, first. The lab holds your sample under UK GDPR, and I only see your results because you choose to share them with me for coaching. Nothing is passed to anyone else.

This is nutritional testing, not medical diagnosis. Results are used to guide your nutrition and training. They are not a diagnosis, and nothing here replaces advice from your GP or specialist.

Please speak to your doctor before making changes if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, taking prescribed medication, or managing a diagnosed condition. If a result suggests something that needs medical review, I will refer you on. Read the full health disclaimer →
